The aim of the All-Inclusive Photo Project is simple - to improve the representation of all people who travel.

To change the faces in travel marketing, Celebrity Cruises has collaborated with photographers from around the world including: renowned portrait artist, Annie Leibovitz; English documentary photographer and disability campaigner who became a triple amputee while working in conflict zones Giles Duley; Naima Green, a Black, queer New York-based photographer; and Jarrad Seng, an Australia-based photographer, filmmaker and creative director of Malaysian-Chinese descent.

Together, they have captured stunning imagery of a range of diverse changemakers.

The Problem

Travel marketing doesn't always show the full spectrum of who we are. Too often, the images used to promote travel are not reflective of the real people you see on vacation.

At Celebrity Cruises, we were reflecting on our brand's own marketing efforts during the pandemic, and identified a need to build on our brand's rich diversity and inclusion efforts to do even more. And not just for us, but for the entire travel industry.

The Research

Last year, we asked thousands of people in the U.S., UK and Australia what they thought about travel marketing and nearly two thirds (63%) felt the travel industry has a responsibility to showcase more diversity within their imagery, with this being felt most strongly by those from the Black community (74%), the LGBTQ+ community (73%) and those with a disability (73%). The group seen as most underrepresented within the travel industry are those with physical disabilities (62%).

The Solution

The All-Inclusive Photo Project was established by Celebrity Cruises as a diversity-focused open-source image library, for anyone wishing to promote diversity in travel and tourism, designed for media and companies within the travel industry to use in their marketing materials. There are over 90 images currently in the library, which are all royalty free.
